New at Kunsthalle Praha: Annette Messager and Memory of Touch, Chapter II
Kunsthalle Praha, the art centre in a converted 1930s power substation at Klárov, below Prague Castle, has two shows on this winter. One opened in October and the second opens on 13 November 2026.
What's on
- Annette Messager: Tragikomedie — until 28 February 2027, Galleries 1 and 2. A large solo show of the French artist, spanning five decades: fabric, toys, photographs and stuffed animals turned into witches, monsters and sharp comments on how women are seen. Messager represented France at the 2005 Venice Biennale, where her pavilion won the Golden Lion.
- Memory of Touch: Chapter II — 13 November 2026 to 12 April 2027, Gallery 3. The second part of the first big look at the Kunsthalle's own collection, built around fragility. Toyen, Emil Filla, Louise Nevelson, Roman Ondák and Tacita Dean hang next to new work by young Czech artists.
- Also on view: Mark Dion's Cabinet of Electrical Curiosities, the building's permanent installation, made from objects found on the substation site, and Watchtower by schwestern, a space in the tower for audiovisual detox.
