Kiosk check-in at Prague Airport: a five-minute checklist
On some flights from Prague Airport, charter flights sold by tour operators among them, passengers are now sent to self-service kiosks instead of a check-in desk. You print your own boarding pass and bag tag and drop off the case yourself. It is easy once you know the order.
Before you leave
- Check whether your airline offers online check-in. If it does, do it at home: with a boarding pass on your phone you can skip the kiosk.
- Keep your passport and booking code to hand. The kiosk finds your flight from the passport, the e-ticket or the code.
- Move power banks and spare batteries into your hand luggage before you leave. At the bag drop you confirm there are none in the case.
- Allow extra time for the drive: the Aviatická junction on the road to the airport is being rebuilt until 2027, and it jams at rush hour.
At the airport
- Kiosk. Kiosks stand in the departure halls of both terminals but work only for selected airlines. Scan your passport or ticket, pick a seat, and the kiosk prints the boarding pass and the bag tag.
- Tag. Fix the tag to the handle and keep the tear-off stub. Photograph the barcode: if the bag goes missing, that number is the first thing the lost-luggage desk asks for.
- Self bag drop. Counters 272–295 in Terminal 2 and 130–135 in Terminal 1. Scan the boarding pass, put the bag on the belt, confirm it holds nothing forbidden and take the receipt.
- Security. Scan the boarding pass at the gates. In Terminal 2 security comes next; in Terminal 1 you go through passport control first and security is at the departure gate.
If it doesn't work
There is usually an agent near the kiosks. If you cannot use a kiosk at all, for example you have no smartphone or a baby in your arms, say so and staff will send you to a staffed counter. Staffed counters usually open about two hours before departure and close 40 minutes before it.
